Say a few words about yourself! Here are some ideas for what to say:
Choose whichever questions you like or come up with your own introduction. The goal is to let others get to know you a little bit!
- Have you followed the community from Imzy or are you new here?
- What are your pronouns and how would you like to be addressed here?
- What do you hope to find in this group?
- Why are you interested in tarot, how do you approach reading?
- Are you new to the cards or have you been reading for a long time?
- Do you have a favourite deck?
- What do you think distinguishes your approach to tarot?
Choose whichever questions you like or come up with your own introduction. The goal is to let others get to know you a little bit!

Date: 2017-06-05 03:34 pm (UTC)She/her. You can call me by my name Trenna or my username or any short form of it. I went by Mandy for years from this username
I hope to find different experiences with tarot from the members
I like tarot as a guide, I like to use it as a way to prompt myself and other to use their own insight to examine their lives. Not as a way to get the answers
I've been reading for a long time. I grew up sharing my mom's decks. Except for those 5 years I fell into Christianity and then left.
My favourite deck is Revelations.
One of the things that I think distinguishes my approach is that I never read the genders of the cards and I don't think of them as say father/mother/etc. I tend to think of them as the stereotypical traits placed on the genders they're based on.
A little anecdote related to that:
Recently my mom did a reading and sent me the cards and asked for my interpretation and after when we were talking about it, she said "Did you see all the men in that reading?" I responded with "What men?" and she was like "All those kings and knights?"
Me, "Oh, I don't look at the genders on the cards. You see that there, that was the [personality trait] I mentioned."
Mom: "I didn't even see it that way. I saw it as someone else."

Date: 2017-06-06 12:40 pm (UTC)We seem to share some aspects of our approaches to tarot 😊 You put some things I think into words. I also don't really look to tarot for answers but rather for guidance and suggestions for paths that could be taken. Encouraging myself and others to examine their own lives is definitely a favourite use of tarot for me.
And we also seem to share a similar approach to the gendered cards - I tend to ignore the gendered meanings and focus on other qualities and personality traits associated with the cards. However, fitting with your anecdote about your mum's reading, I've learned that sometimes I have to pick up on some of the gendered meanings because although they pretty much never have relevance in my readings for myself, they are sometimes relevant in readings for other people. It all depends on the specific reading.

Date: 2017-06-06 12:45 am (UTC)I'm still so excited that this community moved from Imzy to Dreamwidth. I was Hysteria on that site.
You can call me Nicole if you like. She/Her. Most of my experience with tarot came from Imzy. I'd been interested in it for a long time but never went out and got a deck or anything. I'd love to see everyone's thought process while reading, maybe some pointers for people interested in it, and definitely a weekly or thereabouts post for people to have a reading and for readers to practice.

Date: 2017-06-06 02:04 pm (UTC)Have you tried an app before getting your own physical deck? It can be a great way to try it out before you decide to get more involved and actually spend money on it 😉
The reading events will be hosted here from Wednesday the 21st after Imzy becomes read only. It will still appear on Imzy tomorrow and next week, probably along with some information about moving here for anyone who might have missed it.

Date: 2017-06-06 02:42 am (UTC)I was TheLizardQueen on Imzy and had a different username in the tarot community. I've been reading Tarot for close to 15 years I guess? A little known fact about me is that I collect tarot decks.

The lost Halloween deck is still available on amazon. My mom gave it to me for my 16th birthday. I'd like to figure out what happened to it, but I don't remember who I loaned it too XD I have the zombie tarot deck too! I remember seeing it and knowing I had to get my hands on it. I love zombies.
Hello!
Date: 2017-06-06 11:12 am (UTC)My name is Ezra and I use he/him pronouns. You can also call me by my username or greydragon, whatever works. I've been reading tarot for more or less two years. I hope this group will become a place for sharing knowledge and experiences where people can discuss different approaches to tarot.
Personally, I view tarot not so much as means of fortune telling but as a sort of introspective exercise that can help nudge people in the right direction when they are in need of advice and personal reflection. I think it can be very therapeutic as well as serve as a tool to inspire creativity!

Date: 2017-06-07 08:32 pm (UTC)my pronouns are they/them.
my personal approach to tarot is definitely weighted more toward the "intuitive" aspect, and i like to use my two favorite decks, the silicon dawn tarot and the enchanted map oracle, together.
i'm excited to be here to watch others discuss, explore, and grow with regards to their relationship with tarot.
