Hello! We seem to share some aspects of our approaches to tarot 😊 You put some things I think into words. I also don't really look to tarot for answers but rather for guidance and suggestions for paths that could be taken. Encouraging myself and others to examine their own lives is definitely a favourite use of tarot for me. And we also seem to share a similar approach to the gendered cards - I tend to ignore the gendered meanings and focus on other qualities and personality traits associated with the cards. However, fitting with your anecdote about your mum's reading, I've learned that sometimes I have to pick up on some of the gendered meanings because although they pretty much never have relevance in my readings for myself, they are sometimes relevant in readings for other people. It all depends on the specific reading.
